FIBER & MATERIAL
Getting down to the root effects of our sourcing impacts is one of the biggest drivers of change for this industry. We only source organic and regenerative natural fibers or upcycled fibers in order to significantly reduce our impacts and carbon footprint. We take sourcing very seriously and have done all the hard work and research so you don't have to worry about the impacts of your purchase when you shop with Tact & Stone.
Organic cotton is farmed without the use of pesticides and chemicals which are harmful to the plants and soil, but the farmers as well. Organic cotton allows the soil to retain water much more effectively and uses 90% less water in the farming process. Additionally, this removes all chemicals from coming into contact with your body. Everybody loves cotton, and we should (and can) enjoy this amazing premium fiber without destroying our planet.

Hemp is a miracle fiber! Hemp is a naturally rain fed crop that doesn't need the use of chemicals or pesticides, which significantly reduces water usage. It is an extremely versatile fiber and can be applied in various ways when integrated into clothing design. It has amazing inherent performance qualities like temperature control, natural moisture wicking, abrasion resistance, and is incredibly durable. We source only the most premium hemp on the market that fabricates into premium, low impact products.
Alpaca wool is the most sustainable wool available. Alpaca only eat the top of the grass and not the roots which keeps the soil in-tact and promotes bio diversity within the local ecosystem. Alpaca wool is incredibly soft, not itchy, and has incredible thermal properties, as well as moisture wicking and quick dry.
This is a game changer! On average, 20% of textiles end up as cutting scraps during the production process. That is a tremendous amount of wasted resources. We've aligned with the best cotton recyclers around, located in Southern Spain, to source our upcycled cotton fiber. With their sophisticated collections process, our mill mechanically recycles pure cotton "waste" that would otherwise be incinerated or end up in a landfill by grinding the textiles down to fiber and re-spinning them into new yarns. Zero water is used to produce these colored yarns. The mill is 50% solar powered. Their recycled cotton yarns have the highest score on the MSI Higg-Index.

Recycled Polyester (rPET)
Now-a-days, it's difficult not to notice single-use plastic waste everywhere. The textile industry is made up of 60% synthetic fibers derived from the oil industry and a vast majority of those fibers are virgin polyester. There is way too much of it and we must re-use it as much as possible. Using recycled polyester from post-consumer packaging (think water bottles) helps divert plastic waste from ending up in our landfills, waterways, and oceans. It also reduces our dependency on the oil industry and the toxic processes of producing virgin polyester. All the same great performance and durability qualities with significantly reduced long-term impacts.
